Start with the sleep space

Use the current Red Nose safe-sleep guidance when preparing a sleep space. A routine planner, monitor or tracking app is not a substitute for those recommendations. Keep the official guide available to everyone who cares for your baby.

Record only what helps

If a log is useful, record approximate start and finish times and anything you want to discuss with your care team. Missing entries are fine. Tracking should reduce the work of remembering, rather than become another task you feel judged by.

Make handovers easier

Write down the familiar settling cues, the location of supplies and how to reach you. Ask caregivers to follow your agreed care instructions. Review the handover whenever arrangements change.

Prepare a useful conversation

Bring a short record and your main question to a child and family health nurse or GP. This library does not assess sleep problems or give an age-based sleep prescription.
