Sharing the invisible to-do list
Make the thinking visible, then share ownership.

List the thinking, not only the doing
Buying groceries is one job. Noticing what is missing, planning meals and remembering dietary preferences are other parts of it. Write down the whole sequence so that your list reflects the work people actually carry.
Assign ownership clearly
Agree who notices, plans and finishes a task. Sharing ownership means fewer reminders for the person who previously managed everything. Start with a small area such as school bags, appointments or the weekly shop.
Agree on good enough
Two people may do the same job differently. Discuss what really matters and where there is room for preference. Clear expectations make it easier to hand over responsibility without monitoring every step.
Review the arrangement
Set aside a short weekly conversation. Look at what changed, what fell through and what needs to move. The aim is a workable arrangement for this week, not a permanent score of who did more.
Try this, at your own pace.
- List three invisible tasks.
- Give one person complete ownership of each.
- Schedule a short weekly review.
