Before and after school care: options and costs
Outside school hours care explained, and how Child Care Subsidy applies.
What it is
Outside school hours care (OSHC) runs before school, after school and in the school holidays, usually at or near the school.
Costs
Fees vary by service. Approved services are covered by Child Care Subsidy, which can reduce your out-of-pocket cost depending on your family income.
Booking
Book early for the start of the school year, as places can fill. Ask about casual bookings and what happens on pupil-free days.
Other options
Some families share pick-ups with friends, use family day care, or arrange flexible work. The shared-care planner can help you map who does what.
